Thursday evening and yesterday morning all the fall decorations came down. I don't remember purchasing any new fall decorations but had to add another storage container. I ramble.
Started putting up the Christmas decorations yesterday. Today I concentrate on the outdoors. Just wondering how much decorating you do? I might get some new ideas. I do have a Packer snowman that is place at the front door.

Decorating update. Everything is up outside. One casualty over the summer. The snowman's head doesn't light up. The Packer snowman and sign that says, "Packer fans welcome. Bear fans by invitation only" are also outside flanking an angel.
Also done with the kitchen and part of the family room. Tomorrow I'll be working in the basement during the game.

The only thing I'm doing this year is my Green Bay Packer Christmas village. I'm not going to bother doing a tree or anything else. It seems everyone in my family has other plans for Christmas, so I will be spending it alone, so I don't feel the need to decorate.
I'm going to volunteer on Christmas Day to serve meals to the needy at a local church. Then after that, I'm going to go out with a few people from work who also will be alone. We plan on going out to dinner and then a few drinks.

Let's see! We hit Farm & Fleet at 6 AM on Friday, 7AM on Saturday, and we're going back today, because we found some neat light timers that will work for us. Since I spend all of my time in Wisconsin during the summer, and my wife is up there over half the time, we don't want that "not lived in" appearance for our home. So, timers on lamps will help create that effect. They have a neat timer on sale for about $5, which works dusk to dawn, or straight timing on a 24 hour clock. Adding to it, you can program it to go "dusk on," and time it on for a period of time "after" it comes on, and it repeats itself every 24 hours. All you need to do is make sure there were no power outages, so you will have the light working. Kind of neat for a timer, and it's electronic, doesn't have pins and big dial wheels. All electronic. We can also use them in Wisconsin. The lights we want on will turn on at dusk, and off, after a given period of time. It will make it easier than it would if we had to stumble in after leaving during the daylight, and coming home, after it gets dark. We also bought a "floor switch." A lot of you have them I'd guess. You step on it, to turn lights on and off? We've been using a Santa with a nose which is a push button switch for years to turn our Christmas tree on and off. It has turned into a hairless Santa with a scraggly beard, and he looks pretty tired out. This new switch will allow him to go into retirement, after nearly 30 years of usage. He deserves the rest. I gotta be careful out there. Farm & Fleet is like a candy store to someone who loves their candy. I'd buy until I dropped!

We have Fleet/Farm. FF and Menards are my second home while decorating. As a matter of fact I'll be making a Menards run in about 10 minutes. Also have to get gas for the snow blower. Sounds like I'll need it today.
My favorite outdoor timer is a stake type timer. It has 3 outlets many timing choices.I have it set for dusk/dawn. I keep lights on the privacy fence all year. Just change the color. Last night the timer in the front gave me a few problems. At first I had my angel a little too close to the timer. Every time the angels wings moved to the back the timer turned off. Moved the angel about 3 inches and every thing worked AOK.
TW, love the step on extension cords. Christmas lights that aren't on timers are on the step on cords; I have about 4 in use right now with 3 more to go.
Time to get that gas and a new coffee maker. Wouldn't you know it died yesterday.

I place one candle light in each of the windows and a Christmas wreath on the front door.
Seldom do I place lights on my holly bush, other bushes or the house.
IF the Packers beat the Bears at Chicago, I will place a HUGE sign in my yard that reads 'THE BEARS STILL SUCK.' Of course, I will decorate the sign with some Christmas decorations and may even hang lights on the sign.
My Dad would put out a snowman, would fully light up his house and have several small ceramic churches and homes, with light bulbs, placed in the windows of his house. He would have angels throughout his house.

This is one of the things that I don't like about Texas. No fleet farms It's great too have a 1 stop shop for all of your gift needs. Anyways we don't do Christmas here (no Christians in this house besides my grandma on my moms side at the moment) so i'll probably do what I do every year, either hang out with friends, or help feed the homeless.

We've been in the cabin in Siren for a month now. Painted, carpeted, new well pump.
We only put up 6 strings of lights, (on a timer, as weekenders) our neighbors are pros: really elaborate displays on a short lake road. Our first piece of mail was: "Like your lights, glad you're not renters." Kinda wierd to get that in our mailbox on the road with no name or numbers on what we slowly discovered was our mailbox.
Wow, people really know who's who in small towns. My wife was kinda freaked as an urban creature and I could only laugh.

I was happy I got the outside decorations up before the snow. We didn't get as much as predicted. It really looks nice on the patio. I'll see how the front looks when I come home from school. Tonight I put the train together for the family room tree. This weekend I'll put up the angel tree in the front room. The Packer tree stays up all year.
I plan on having at least one Packer get together, a Christmas tea, a houseful for Christmas Eve, and other small gatherings. I do love Christmas.

My Grandfather bought me a GREAT Lionel train set when I was a kid and I would set up the train set every year until my son turned 16. It was lots of fun. One year, I tried to blowup the train tracks with a M-80 (Adams Family simulation), but there was no damage to the track. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I will be off from Dec. 24 - Jan. 2.

Ameoba - we figure you're a "little off" 24/7, so this would just be an extension of that?

Must be the after affects of the weekend. Getting drunk and decorating a friends front yard on Saturday, Packers losing on Sunday and being off 24/7. Must be getting old because evidently I have not fully recovered.

Just thought I'd give you a decorating update. Yesterday after school I purchased the live Christmas tree or as I call it the angel tree. Looks kinda funny right now. the lights are on half of the tree. Will be getting the rest up shortly. This evening all the decorations should be in place. I'll see about posting pictures.
Was told last night that every room in my house is full of Christmas cheer. One can't help but feel Christmas. Made my day! I love celebrating Christ's birthday. I believe He is a Packer fan so Chirst appreciates the Packer tree too.
