The weather was lousy. The field was slick. The ball had to feel like it was greased. Yet, Rodgers connected with Jordy Nelson repeatedly, to power the Packers over the Texans. Some of those passes, and catches, were exactly what the doctor ordered to cure a lot of the ills the Packers have had for the first part of the season. Adams was held to 1 catch for 17 yards. He dropped a couple. But, let's face it. That can happen in weather like that.
Montgomery is special. He's exactly what Cobb was several years ago. It's a mystery to me as to why Cobb isn't that same player. Imagine two guys who can offer change ups like them, coming out of the backfield in some packages.
The defense was fair. The Texans stopped themselves more than the Packers stopping them. They had a lot more dropped passes than the Packers - fortunately. Matthews was pretty much an average player most of the game. He had a couple of solid speed rushes, but played his position fairly well. He lost containment outside twice, and it hurt, but we got past it. Peppers lost containment once. After that, he refused to let anyone burn him to the outside. Both were in on, and around, several tackles. Jake Ryan is back. Glad to see it. Now we need Martinez back, right next to him on the field. They make a good pair for inside linebackers in our system.
We can't get too excited. We played a team that is pretty much pedestrian. The Packers still need to learn to put drives together and play better on 3rd down. This season ahs shown we have a problem with both these parts of the game.

did you see on one play when A. Taylor had his block perfectly except the defensive player then started pushing him for 2-3 yards backwards, because he had NO FOOTING! he looked like a blocking sled ! Glad he still kept the defender away from the QB. Cobb is much smaller frame than Monty, he just could not take the pounding of a running back Monty has a thicker frame and of course he is a tad bigger in muscle as well. The rookie Lowey played well I like his big body and his speed. Once he lets the game slow down for him and gets more playing time this man is going to be another Peppers maybe. still like Elliot, he has the upside still and I he will get better. Clark held his own but he seems to relax a little after he gets his first push , it is like he is timing his energy and then just holding that spot instead of keep moving to get deeper into the pocket to disrupt the play. I love RRRRRRRIP! hope he gets more time besides blocking and ST/sI like the two fullback in at the same time number 40 blocks well. Our Punter seems to have settled in he is really killing the angle punts and the kill kicks inside the 10. Ryan really does have good speed and quickness to the ball. like you are saying you got Ryan and Martinez inside they could be a very good pair.

Ripkowski has been a pleasant surprise. I thought he'd be a real let-down after Kuhn. He isn't. Amazing stat. We have 5 rushing TDs this year. Three by Rodgers, two by Rip. Nobody else has one.

I am hoping to see more of RB. Christine Michaele. Also more of Lowey ,a healthier Ryan, and maybe even Martinez more plays for Janis, more of Elliot, more of Allison,Cobb on punt returns and of course, more of RRRRip!

Nelson and Rodgers are now tied with Favre and Freeman for the most Td combos in Packers history, with 57. Don hutson still holds the Packers record for Td catches with 99 then Sterling Sharpe with 65, then Driver with 61. Nelson also has 61 career TD catches, meaning he'll pass Driver with his next catch. he needs 5 more to pass Sterling.

I am sure Nelson will pass them all before he retires from Green Bay.(although, getting to 99 will be tough)

lets say jordy plays another 6 years and ends up with 120 career td catches. is that enough to get him into Canton? Driver, who is the only Packers receiver with 10000 yards and over 700 catches, is not in the Pro hall of Fame. Neother is Ahman Green, who is the Packers all time Rush leader

that is a hard question, it depends on his other stats, like ypc, total yards, and who is still alive on the board that votes. He is a fan favorite so that small % that goes to the fans will help also. i see green and Driver having a lonnnng shot latter in time at least Driver i think has a solid shot over green but hey, one never knows.

Jordy is very good, but probably not going to make the HOF. I don't think that matters to him. He's going to enjoy the ride, a travel back home, and be a farmer. He's comfortable with that.

Nelson is my favorite Packer on the team. I remember visiting training camp his rookie year. He was skinny and looked undersized at the time. He was doing a drill where he would catch a pass on the sideline and someone would hit him hard while he tried to hold on to the ball. You could tell he was in pain, but never stopped. After practice he came over and signed autographs for the kids and was very generous with his time. He seems like a class act and has earned his success.

He is special. I may have mentioned it, but one of my doctors, here in Texas, knows him fairly well. Nelson's family and the doc are very close. In fact, the doc has been one of Jordy's docs over the years.
Here's my doctor's assessment:
He's a humble person who feels that anything accomplished is done by giving all you've got. He also feels that when his level of participation in the NFL starts to fall, he's going to walk away, because he's always been more comfortable on the seat of a tractor than he is in the limelight.
Jordy isn't a vocal person. He just does things. He's not a mentor because he's actually kind of shy. He takes criticism well, and above all, "respects" people around him, and his elders. He's a family man, through and through. If family asked him to leave football, he'd be gone tomorrow, because that's who he is.
When he hangs it up, he's going to keep going on the farm. It's his true love. He'll also be a driving force in helping his community to gain their goals, because with him, it's never about him, but about everyone else.
Anyhow. That's how he described him. That was six years ago, and a couple of weeks ago, doc said, "He hasn't changed one bit."

rodgers to nelson helps stave off what would have been a season ending loss to the bears. very possible that we could be tied for the North after Next week.

Nelson is the ultimate pass receiver. He makes plays when they counts. He does what's necessary, to make plays. All of it done without strutting like a peacock, and acting like he doesn't have good sense. He knows who he is, and doesn't need to act out to make people look at him.
There are guys like this around the league, but usually, people don't see them. I remember Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and others. Guys who let their play speak for them. Guys whose focus was on doing the job.
The Rodgers to Nelson pass was something we all kind of looked at as being possible, simply because there is no point on the field those two can't hook up, and make magic.
Capers sucks, but these two guys... awesome!

Boom! I rest my case! Rodgers to Nelson is one of the greatest combinations I've ever seen, bar none. You kind of sit back in your seat and say; "Wait for it.............wait for it................. wait for it! Boom! There it is!
